Presidents Report

The year 2002 was most probably our best season so far for results (eg. Country Week) and finance. Our bank balance is looking very healthy.

Open Country Week saw both our 1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions win yet again. Also our 2nd team in 2nd division played will to be runners-up, annoying the hell our of other associations.

Congratulations to Darren Morris, Allen Kukura and Rick Wightman for having the highest average in their respective divisions.

Womens Country Week came runner-up with a great team effort. Well done!

Many thanks must go to our Major Sponsors who helped us take away strong teams to Country Week, The Sands Newsagency, Lane Ford and The Sands Tavern. Please ensure as members, that we can keep them with us for a long time to come.

Darren Morris was selected in the State team to play in Hobart. This is a great achievement, and he played with distinction and class to help WA finish 3rd. South Australia were awesome again in their play to win the title.

The Committee for the year 2002 must be commended for their extra efforts, especially in the field of fundraising. Each Friday night two committee members gladly gave their time to do raffles at the Sands, to ensure our association was strongly viable and financially sound for the future.

These people are very special:-

Jacquie Clarson (Secretary / Treasurer) – Always there.

Cheryl Barry (Registrar) – Accurate as always, also created our excellent website.

Daniel Whitehorn – Who ensured the meat packs were delivered every week and did well fundraising.

Donna Haben – Helped out immensely for Womens Country Week and Building Committee and volunteered to help run the South West Games.

Steve Mclroy (Vice President) – Always ready to step in and help.

Martin Stone – Readily available, lends helping hand at Country Week.

Cameron McLeod – Also readily available and is a major sponsor for Country Week – Sands Newsagency

Russell Hine – For his hard work re-writing the by-laws.

Again thanks to all our committee for supporting the association in doing raffles each week at The Sands Tavern. These raffles will be done this year, members are due to help.

This year we have two new Committee members in John Nixon and Erica Keighly and I am sure they will commit themselves to the tasks asked of them.

Mick Grey has also donated his time to do the Registrars position and keep the website up to date.

Good luck to everybody in 2003.

Phil Barry - President
